Stunt driving charge laid against driver who passed by collision scene on Hwy. 417

Ontario Provincial Police say a driver is facing a stunt driving charge after passing by a collision scene on Highway 417 near Almonte on Tuesday.

The driver involved in the collision did not suffer any major injuries, police said.

OPP say another driver passed through the collision area and was then stopped for stunt driving after being clocked at 151 km/h.

The charged driver faces an automatic 30-day licence suspension, a 14-day vehicle impound. A conviction could result in a minimum $2,000 fine, a one-year driving ban, and six demerit points.

“The OPP reminds motorists that you need to slow down and move over for emergency vehicles and tow trucks for the safety of everyone,” police said.
