A 72-year-old man is facing charges of harassment and mischief for several suspicious incidents in Barrhaven over several months. Ottawa police say it received reports of a newer model, dark blue Mazda 3 sedan “repeatedly” driving through the area of Longfields Drive and Calaveras Avenue between approximately 10 p.m. and 1 a.m. In an email, police said the incidents go back to at least March through August. The vehicle was also seen driving through the neighbourhood or parking on different streets, police say. The driver, described by police as an older white man, was also seen walking through the area. After an investigation, police say they identified a person who was being targeted by the suspect. The man was charged last week with criminal harassment – watching and besetting, and mischief – interfering with the lawful enjoyment of property. The suspect was held for a bail hearing. Police say the man’s identity is not being released to protect the victim.
