More than 5,600 hundred drivers were caught running red lights at Ottawa’s intersections in July, the highest number of tickets issued through the red light camera program in a month in three years. New data shows 5,644 tickets were issued through Ottawa’s red light camera program in July, up from 5,408 tickets in June and 5,055 tickets for red light running in May. The 5,644 tickets issued for red light camera infractions in June was the highest number of tickets issued in a month in Ottawa since August 2023, when 5,780 tickets were issued. A total of 6,507 tickets were issued for red light camera infractions in July 2023. The red light camera on King Edward Avenue northbound at St. Andrew Street is Ottawa’s busiest red light camera in July, with 322 tickets issued. A total of 215 drivers were nabbed for running the red light at the intersection in July 2025. Two-hundred-and-eight-five drivers were ticketed for running the red light on Wellington Street eastbound at Bay Street in July, 277 tickets were issued at the intersection of Walkley Road and Ryder/Don Reid, 225 tickets were issued to drivers for running red lights at the intersections of the Vanier Parkway at Presland and at the corner of Maitland Avenue and Erindale/Glenmount. The City of Ottawa operates 86 red light cameras at intersections across Ottawa. A total of 30,272 tickets has been issued to drivers for running red lights through the first seven months of the year, up from 25,866 red light camera tickets issued during the January-July period last year. The fine for being caught running a red light by the red light camera is $325. The ticket for running the red light is issued to the registered owner of the vehicle, regardless of who is driving the car at the time of the alleged offence.
