Ottawa police are looking for information about two vehicles in connection with a fatal hit-and-run motorcycle crash in the city’s southwest end last week. First responders were called to West Hunt Club Road near Merivale Road for a collision involving a vehicle and a motorcycle at approximately 6 a.m. last Friday. According to police, the vehicle involved in the collision left the scene before police arrived. The rider of the motorcycle, a 21-year-old woman, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries where she later died. On Wednesday, Ottawa police say investigators determined the vehicle involved was a dark-coloured Ford Escape. The car sustained front-end damage, specifically on the right-side fog light area. “Police are continuing to work to identify the vehicle and establish the circumstances surrounding the collision,” police said in a news release. Investigators are also looking to speak with a witness who was driving a red pickup truck near the collision site at the time of the incident. “Investigators believe this individual may have information that could assist with the ongoing investigation. The driver of the red pickup truck is not being identified as a suspect, and police are simply asking the individual to come forward and speak with investigators,” police say. Anyone in the area at the time of the collision, particularly the driver of the red pickup truck, or anyone who may have dash-camera or other video footage that could assist investigators, is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Service Fatal Collision Investigation Unit at 613-236-1222, extension 2345.
