Families in Ottawa are getting for Halloween with spooky events taking place across the city. Halloween Hijinks at Cumberland Heritage Museum showcased entertainment, challenges and all sorts of crafts. “It’s awesome that they have something like this for little kids, and it’s not scary,” said attendee Anna Grace. Grace’s three-year-old son Nathan loves Halloween and dressed up as a fire truck on Saturday. In Westboro, the 15th anniversary of Wickedly Westboro took place with live entertainment, interactive activities and balloon making. “It is such a fun community event and we’re so thankful that all the businesses in Westboro Village continue to support it and bring us all together,” said Judy Lincoln, executive director of the Westboro Village BIA. “We do it with the support of the businesses and Real Canadian Superstore, who gave us over 5,000 pieces of candy to hand out today.” Both children and adults were dressed up and got a chance to go trick-or-treating from business to business. “It’s just getting out and enjoying the beautiful day with the kids. Seeing all the costumes,” said attendee James Major. In Stittsville, the “Oktoboofest FUNdraiser” Market saw more than 30 lively vendors supported by student volunteers. “It’s a non-profit village and all the booth rentals support local charities,” said Joseph Carbonetto, founder of the Stittsville Community Crafters, Producers and Vendor Markets. “All local people.”
