The 10th anniversary of Orléans Ribfest was held this weekend with five different rib stations to choose from. The community event draws in thousands to taste some of the country’s best ribs. “We love getting together with people, sharing each others experiences and time and then, ultimately, enjoying some of the best barbecue that you get to have,” said Leslie Gagne, organizer of Orléans Ribfest. This was Jimmy Talbot’s first time attending Orléans Ribfest. He says he had a hankering for some meat. “You just got to dive in with your fingers, and you forgot the utensils. Have a bunch of napkins because you’re going to get messy but leave your etiquette at home. Just dive on in and enjoy every aspect that’s in front of you. It’s sensational,” said Talbot. “It’s absolutely delicious. You can’t go wrong.” New to the festival this year, PoutineFest features more than 50 kinds of Poutine. Different types of protein, whether it be chicken, brisket, pulled pork, pork and beef ribs to choose from. “I’m getting my fix for the year,” said Michelle Favreau. “We’ve got quite the selection here. We’ve got the pulled pork, and we’ve got ribs and chicken and beans and salad and then we’ve got the mac and cheese. We’ve got everything.” Judges on site rated the best ribs, chicken, brisket, sauce and presentation. The free family event filled with live entertainment, a kids’ zone with activities and vendors. Ribfest will be held next weekend in Rockland.
