October was the wettest month of 2025 in Ottawa

October was wetter and warmer than normal in Ottawa, with above-average rainfall and temperatures.

Environment Canada released the weather summary for the month on Monday.

The average temperature in Ottawa in October was 10.1 C, 1.9 degrees above the normal mean temperature of 8.2 C.

According to Environment Canada, Ottawa saw 26 days with the temperature above 10 C. There were five days with the temperature above 20 C, compared to the average of 3.4 days with the temperature higher than 20 C.

Ottawa received 141 mm of rain in October, well above the monthly normal of 87 mm.

Rainy October

The 141 mm of rain recorded at the Ottawa Airport in October was the highest monthly precipitation total in Ottawa so far this year.

The rainfall included a record 58.6 mm of rain on Oct. 7, and total rainfall of 31.4 mm on Oct. 20, 30.9 mm on Oct. 30 and 17 mm on Oct. 31.

October’s rainfall of 141 mm of rain was higher than the rainfall totals in July, August and September combined.

Ottawa experienced five straight months of below average precipitation, including 32 mm of rain in September, 48 mm of rain in August and 48 mm of rain in July. There was 60.7 mm of rain in May and 65.5 mm in June.
