OC Transpo says the washrooms at O-Train Line 1 stations have reopened. The washrooms were closed over two months ago on Feb. 20 as OC Transpo undertook a risk assessment for all washrooms along the line due to drug-use and vandalism. “Following the completion of a multi-stakeholder risk assessment, staff have introduced short-term mitigations, which include newly installed needle receptacles/drop boxes in washrooms and enhanced monitoring,” OC Transpo said in a statement to CTV News. “The washrooms have also been cleaned and undergone any necessary repairs.” OC Transpo says it is continues to assess other medium and long-term options to enhance the safety of the washrooms. In a Facebook post in March, Barrhaven East Coun. Wilson Lo said the closure followed an OC Transpo Special Constable investigation into needles that were “discovered placed in an intentional way that could cause harm to staff and customers.” Line 1 has washrooms at Tunney’s Pasture, Bayview, Hurdman and Blair stations.
