Motorcyclist dies following single-vehicle crash on Colonel By Drive in Ottawa

A motorcyclist is dead following a single-vehicle crash along the Rideau Canal.

Emergency crews responded to the crash in the area of Colonel By Drive and Daly Avenue at approximately 8:40 p.m. Sunday.

An Ottawa Paramedic Service spokesperson said it appeared the motorcycle struck the curb, and the rider was ejected off the bike.

The spokesperson told CTV News Ottawa the driver of the motorcyclist, a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead in hospital.

The Ottawa Police Service said on social media Sunday night that the southbound lane of Colonel By Drive, south of Daly Avenue, was closed for a collision investigation.

The road reopened just after 5 a.m.

The RCMP is leading the investigation into the crash.
