Ottawa has a lawn care Good Samaritan, helping residents who often can’t take care of their yards on their own by cutting, trimming and cleaning them up – often for free. “It’s a project,” Jeff Seeton tells CTV News Ottawa. Seeton is on a mission to seek out yards and lawns around Ottawa that need a little or a lot of TLC. “It can be people who have disabilities, people who have mobility issues, also people who are just struggling from day to day, or maybe don’t even have time to get up and take care of the property,” he said. Armed with his power tools, the “lawn ranger” will approach homes with yards that appear to need some assistance. Some jobs take hours, while others can take days. “I will knock on the door. Many times, there’s no one there. Other times, I have people saying, ‘no thank you,’ but a lot of times people are really appreciative,” Seeton said. He shares many of his projects on his YouTube channel. Seeton says it’s not just front yards he’s looking out for. CTV News Ottawa caught up with him on Richmond Road, where a long and narrow strip of lawn was overgrown with weeds. “We tracked him down, online and he came out, and he offered to do this and clean it up,” said Mike Ziola, owner of nearby restaurant, Biago’s Kitchen. Seeton says he hopes his work can help more than just lawns. “If I can inspire one person to get out and help somebody else, it’s a good day,” he said.
