Kingston Police charge two following drug investigation

Kingston police say two people were charged following a drug bust on Thursday.

According to a news release from police, officers executed a search warrant at a home on Montreal Street following a drug trafficking investigation.

During the search, officers seized fentanyl, crystal methamphetamine, a digital scale, a conducted energy weapon, replica firearms, packaging materials and cash believed to be the proceeds of crime.

Two occupants of the home, a 34-year-old and a 38-year-old, were taken into custody and now face multiple charges, including possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of drug trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime and weapons related offences.

“Public safety remains our highest priority. This investigation demonstrates the continued dedication of our officers to disrupting the distribution of dangerous substances in Kingston,” Chief Adam MacIntosh said in a statement.

“We will continue to prioritize these efforts and work closely with the community to support the safety and well-being of all residents.”

The accused attended a bail hearing and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice.
