U.S. fast food restaurant Jimmy John’s is coming to Ottawa. The company, known for its sandwiches and pickles, has announced plans to open 12 locations across Canada by the end of the year, including in Ottawa. Locations are also planned for Winnipeg, Edmonton, Barrie and Windsor, in addition to its locations in Niagara Falls and Toronto. The first Jimmy John’s opened in Charleston, Illinois in 1983. “Jimmy John’s menu features a mix of cold and toasted sandwiches, all made with premium meats, fresh vegetables sliced in-house daily, and bread that’s baked fresh throughout the day,” Jimmy John’s said in a media release. “Guests can customize their order with fresh-baked bread or opt for the carb-conscious ‘Unwich’ lettuce wrap. Jimmy John’s also offers Jimmy Chips, kettle-cooked potato chips made fresh and seasoned to perfection.” While Jimmy John’s didn’t say where the Ottawa location will be located, Urbandale Corporation’s listing for Armstrong Plaza on Earl Armstrong Road shows a Jimmy John’s is opening at the location.
