The dreary weather in the nation’s capital continues today. Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Ottawa calling for between 10 and 20 millimetres of rain to have fallen by the time a system that moved in Wednesday leaves the region tonight. “Additional showers and thunderstorms are possible through the day. Portions of the region have received significant rainfall amounts over the last few days. As a result, any further rainfall could have significant impacts. Rainfall warnings may be issued for some regions,” the statement said at 4:45 a.m. A yellow advisory for fog ended at around 10:30 a.m. after being in effect most of the morning. The forecast high is 15 C. This evening, expect clouds, a 40 per cent chance of showers, and a low of 9 C. Friday’s outlook is cloudy with a high of 20 C, which is well above the normal high of 12 C for this time of year. No rain is in the forecast for Friday, and the sky is expected to clear in the evening and overnight. Saturday is looking partly sunny with a high of 22 C. There is a 30 per cent chance of showers in the forecast. Temperatures are set to plunge early next week. Sunday’s high is just 8 C, with an overnight low of -4 C heading into Monday. Monday could potentially see a few flurries.
