The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) says residents of Ottawa can expect to see more military vehicles than usual on roads this weekend, particularly on Riverside Drive. The CAF says reservists from 33 Canadian Brigade Group will be training in the capital from Friday through Sunday in an operation called “Exercise Wolf Ready.” Activities will include supply and personnel transport convoys on planned routes and the deployment of Army personnel at multiple Department of National Defence facilities. “Members of the public may see military vehicles on area roads and highways throughout Ottawa and surrounding areas, especially on Riverside Drive between Alta Vista and the Ottawa International Airport area,” a news release says. “Participating soldiers will not carry any weapons or ammunition.” Residents are asked to be cautious when approaching military vehicles. The CAF says efforts are being made to reduce any potential inconvenience as a result of the exercise. “The Canadian Army Reserve prepares year-round for emergencies in Canadian communities including natural disasters like the flooding crisis in the Ottawa River Valley in 2019, where Army Reserve personnel, including hundreds from 33 CBG responded to a Request for Assistance and served alongside community members and other first responders,” the military says. The exercise will begin in the evening on Friday and conclude by Sunday evening.
