A 21-year-old Carleton Place, Ont. man is facing impaired driving charges after a single-vehicle crash in Ottawa’s west end. Ontario Provincial Police responded to a call for a crash on Highway 7 shortly before 2:30 a.m. Saturday. Const. Michael Fathi said the vehicle left the road and rolled into a ditch. “Upon arrival, police suspected the driver to be under the influence of alcohol,” Fathi said. “A roadside screening device was utilized and the driver was brought back to Ottawa Detachment for further testing.” The driver is charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus. Fathi said the driver had his licence suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.
