Ottawa police say a driver has been charged with dangerous operation after a two-vehicle crash in front of an elementary school on Heron Road that resulted in one car being flipped onto its roof. The crash happened just after noon Monday, in front of Marie Curie Elementary School on Heron Road near Baycrest Drive. Ottawa paramedics said one person was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. A second person was assessed at the scene but declined to go to the hospital. Coun. Marty Carr noted on Facebook that there used to be an automated speed enforcement camera in that area. According to public data, the camera on Heron Road between Alta Vista Drive and Baycrest Drive issued 3,819 tickets last year, prior to being shut down by the Ontario government in November 2025.
