Ontario Provincial Police say they issued 15 tickets to a commercial driver after they were pulled over for not wearing a seat belt in Apple Hill, Ont., north of Cornwall, on Thursday. According to police, officers conducted a traffic stop after seeing that the driver was not wearing a seat belt. During the traffic stop, police found the vehicle’s trailer to be unsafe, and removed its licence plates. Police say the driver was handed 15 tickets for offences including failing to wear a seat belt, operating without a CVOR registration, failing to complete a pre-trip inspection, operating a trailer with no functioning brakes and improperly securing a load. “Commercial vehicle inspections play a critical role in keeping Ontario roads safe,” OPP wrote in a post on social media. “What began as a simple seat belt infraction uncovered serious safety concerns that could have put all road users at risk.”
