An eastern Ontario woman got a chance to win the lottery in a unique way. Bernadette M. of Belleville won a trip into the “money machine,” a new “experimental” lottery prize from the Ontario Lotto and Gaming Corporation (OLG). After revealing the prize on a scratch off ticket, she had a chance to head to the OLG’s prize centre in Toronto, where she had only 30 seconds to grab as many bills flying around inside a tube as she could. In the end, Bernadette came out with $65,000. Prizes in the machine range from $25,000 to $100,000. “When I was in the machine, the bills were flying everywhere. It was exciting not knowing how much I won until the host handed me the $65,000 cheque,” she recalled at the OLG prize centre. It’s Bernadette’s second big lotto prize after having previously won $100,000 with an Instant 5x The Cash scratch off in 2020. She told the OLG that she has “big plans” for her winnings but “doesn’t want to spoil the surprise.” The winning ticket was purchased at Mobil on Moira Street West in Belleville.
