OTTAWA - Talks to resolve the dispute over MPs' access to sensitive Afghan detainee documents are going down to the wire.

Commons Speaker Peter Milliken gave the government and opposition parties until Tuesday to find a way for MPs to see the documents uncensored without jeopardizing national security.

With the deadline in sight, there is still no agreement and opposition parties are wondering if the government is deliberately stalling.

Negotiators for all parties are to meet again Tuesday morning for only the fourth time since Milliken's ruling two weeks ago.

Failure to reach an agreement by the deadline could pave the way for a motion of contempt against the government, which could trigger a court challenge or even an election.

However, Milliken could grant an extension if everyone says they're close to a deal.
