The Thunder Bay Police Service has upgraded an ongoing assault investigation to a sudden death investigation following an incident on the city’s north side last week. Incident response Officers were dispatched to the area of the 1000 block of Dawson Road in the afternoon of Aug. 15. “A female was located and transported to a local hospital with injuries,” police said in a news release. No risk to public safety “Investigators believe there is no risk to public safety at this time,” police said. Police had initially opened an assault probe, with the first public notification coming in a news release on Aug. 16. The update confirmed the change in classification but did not disclose any details about the circumstances leading to the death.
