West Nipissing non-profit gets $50K boost for inclusive outdoor space

Caisse Alliance has donated $50,000 to Community Living West Nipissing to fund the construction of an accessible pavilion, site preparation, and the purchase of equipment – including an outdoor fireplace.

Making a difference

The financial institution allocates $600,000 annually through its Caisse Alliance Fund, divided equally among the six regions it serves. The grants support non-profit projects with long-term community benefits.

“The presence of Community Living West Nipissing is certainly felt in our community, and we are delighted to contribute to a project that will make a difference in the lives of many,” said Marcy Lemieux, the regional director of Caisse Alliance’s Nipissing central region, in a news release.

The pavilion will be built at 90 Cholette Avenue in Sturgeon Falls, with construction set to begin in summer 2025.

Sylvie Bélanger, the executive director of Community Living West Nipissing, expressed gratitude for the donation, stating it will provide a sheltered gathering space for residents and their families.

“This pavilion will serve as a gathering place for our residents and their families and a venue for outdoor activities sheltered from the sun and rain,” Bélanger said.

“Our residents will benefit immensely from the Caisse’s generosity. Thank you for your continued support.

Lemieux emphasized the organization’s commitment to community impact, adding, “As a cooperative rooted in its communities, this gesture aligns with our values and will have a real and lasting impact.”

Both Caisse and Community Living said the organizations share a commitment to inclusivity and community well-being.
