Two charged after series of break-ins at Thunder Bay business

Two Thunder Bay residents are facing multiple charges following a string of break-and-enters at a south-end business this month.

Officers with the Thunder Bay Police Service responded to a report of a break-and-enter in progress at a business on James Street South around 1:40 a.m. on Dec. 16.

“A pedestrian in the area saw two people breaking into a business,” police said in a news release.

Suspects located, arrested

Responding officers found that one of the windows of the front door of the business had been broken and merchandise was stolen. The suspects had left prior to police arrival.

The break and enter and robbery or BEAR unit continued the investigation.

“Further investigation led to two suspects being located and arrested later that same day,” said police.

The police investigation determined the suspects were involved in a total of four incidents at the same location between Dec. 3 - 16.

As a result, a 36-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man, both from Thunder Bay, Ont., have been charged with four counts of breaking and entering and three counts of disguise with intent. The woman faces one additional count of disguise with intent and the man is also charged with four counts of breaching probation.

The accused remain in custody awaiting future court dates.
