Thunder Bay police seize $150K in suspected cocaine

A Thunder Bay man is in custody after police seized a significant quantity of suspected cocaine at a local residence.

The seizure is the result of a drug trafficking investigation conducted by the Thunder Bay Police Service. The investigation led officers to obtain a search warrant for a home in the 300 block of John Street.

Thunder Bay police, with assistance from the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service, executed the warrant Thursday afternoon.

A 55-year-old man was located inside the residence and taken into custody without incident.

Cash, drugs and paraphernalia seized in raid

A subsequent search of the property resulted in the discovery and seizure of “quantities of suspected cocaine.” Police said officers also confiscated cash exceeding $5,000 and various items described as paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.

“The estimated street value of the seized drugs is more than $150,000,” said police in a news release Monday.

As a result, the local man is charged with drug trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime.

The accused appeared in court on Friday and has been remanded into custody pending a future court appearance.
