Three teens charged with assault in Thunder Bay mall fight

Three teenage boys in Thunder Bay are charged with assault after a fight at a mall food court sent one person to hospital on Sunday.

Thunder Bay officers were sent to the Intercity Shopping Centre shortly after 4 p.m. May 18 after several 911 calls about a group of youths fighting.

“A male victim was transported to hospital for further treatment and assessment of injuries consistent with a stabbing,” police said in a news update Tuesday.

“Officers located three suspects nearby. All three were arrested and taken into custody.”

The youngest suspect, 14, is charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and breach of recognizance.

He is being held in custody.

Two 15-year-olds are also charged with assault but have been released.

None of the suspects can be identified due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
