A Collingwood, Ont., family with a love for AC/DC had an unforgettable weekend, taking in the sounds of the iconic tribute band in Etobicoke. After a powerful storm forced the cancellation of the Sept. 16 AC/DC concert in Toronto, their hopes of fulfilling their father’s dying wish to see the band live were shattered. For a while, it looked like that final wish might never happen. Then, on Saturday, everything changed. Mike Crawford suffered a brain aneurysm that left him in a coma for six months. During that time, his daughter Katelynn played AC/DC for him every day while sitting by his side. “I sat there every day while I had brand-new twins, was in law school, and we just rocked out every day to AC/DC. I’d place that phone beside his ear, and I knew he could hear us somehow,” she told CTV News. When he woke up from a coma, the family began planning how to make his wish a reality. That involved securing a ticket to the sold-out show, arranging special transportation and even hiring a nurse to ensure a smooth outing. But Mother Nature had other plans. When the concert at Rogers Stadium was cancelled, Crawford’s final wish seemed to slip out of reach. When CTV Barrie shared the story, it didn’t fall on deaf ears. Hell N Back, known as Canada’s AC/DC tribute band, reached out and offered to bring the family to its Etobicoke show for a VIP experience. It included dinner, a front-row seat, a signed guitar and drumstick from the tribute band and, perhaps most meaningful of all, the chance for Mike to take it all in alongside Katelynn and his three grandchildren.
