A 35-year-old man from Markstay-Warren faces theft-related charges after police say he drove a stolen pickup truck to the Ontario Provincial Police detachment in Blind River. Suspect approached officers At about 8:20 a.m. on Sunday, police said that members of the East Algoma Detachment observed an individual displaying unusual behaviour in the OPP parking lot on Causley Street. “While speaking with officers, the individual advised that the pickup truck they were operating had been stolen from a mine site in Copper Cliff within Greater Sudbury,” OPP said in a news release. Vehicle taken hours earlier Police said officers learned the vehicle had been taken from the business’s property at approximately 5:30 a.m. on June 7. “The vehicle had been left parked with the keys inside at the time it was taken,” said police. As a result of the investigation, the driver was charged with theft of a motor vehicle and possession of property obtained by crime. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on August 13 in Elliot Lake.
