Suspended G1 driver stopped at RIDE check with alcohol in his system: OPP

Ontario Provincial Police have laid multiple charges after a traffic stop last week revealed the driver had a suspended licence.

The charges stem from a roadside check conducted by the OPP on Highway 141 in the Village of Rosseau. Police said the incident occurred at about 8 p.m. on Feb. 6.

Suspended licence

“Officers stopped a vehicle and spoke with the driver; further investigation revealed the driver to have a suspended licence,” OPP said in a news release.

As a result of the investigation, the motorist, a 25-year-old local man, was charged with two counts of driving while under suspension as well as an impaired driving charge as a novice driver with a blood alcohol content level above zero.

“The accused was also issued a seven-day administrative driver’s licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded,” police said.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Parry Sound on March 17.
