A 20-year-old man in Sault Ste. Marie has been charged with several offences following an investigation that ended with a search warrant. The arrest took place Aug. 19 when officers raided a residence on Allen’s Side Road. “Upon searching the residence, officers located a handgun loaded with 11 rounds of ammunition, as well as 46 separate rounds of ammunition, all of which were stored in a manner contrary to regulations,” Sault police said in a news release Aug. 20. “The accused was arrested.” Charges include numerous weapons offences, three counts of violating a probation order and four counts of possessing weapons while prohibited. The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
