A 33-year-old local man is facing multiple charges following an investigation by police in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., into a robbery and three subsequent thefts at a local business. Alleged incidents began in April The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service said the first reported incident occurred on April 6, when officers received a report of a robbery at a business in the 100 block of Churchill Boulevard. Police said officers were told the suspect threatened to physically harm a security guard when confronted about stealing. “On three more occasions between April 7, 2026, and May 10, 2026, it was reported that the same suspect returned to the business and stole more items,” said police in a news release this week. Police said an investigation identified the suspect as the accused. Multiple charges laid after months Sault police said officers located and arrested the man at about 4:10 a.m. on June 2. As a result, the accused is charged with robbery, three counts of theft and failing to comply with an appearance notice. The man was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
