Saskatchewan’s offering of eight helium and associated gas Crown permits for November all received successful bids, generating almost $5 million in revenue. According to a release from the province on Friday, the permits covered a total area of 208,839 hectares. The highest bid was from Millenium Land Ltd., who offered $1,198,327 for a permit southwest of Moose Jaw. The company bid on five permits in total for about $3 million, which covered an area of 106,354 hectares. The other successful bidder was Synergy Lands Services Ltd., offering $1.9 million for three permits covering an area of 102,484 hectares. The Ministry of Energy and Resources launched a public offering system in June of 2026, with November representing the third of the year. The offering system mirrors the competitive bidding processes used for Crown petroleum and natural gas, potash, and brine lithium rights. The province says it reflects an ongoing interest in Saskatchewan’s helium potential. Since launching the system earlier this year, the province generated $23.3 million in revenue. The next helium and associated gases public offering is expected to be held on April 5, 2027. According to the province, Saskatchewan accounts for about 3.5 per cent of the world’s supply of helium, making it Canada’s largest helium producer. Helium is used as a coolant in modern technologies in several sectors, including medical, manufacturing, defence and space exploration.
