The Anishinabek Police Service is asking for the public’s help locating a man who fled an attempted traffic stop in Nipissing First Nation last week. Police say the incident occurred shortly before 2 p.m. on Sept. 9. “Anishinabek Police Service officers in Garden Village attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle when the driver suddenly fled in the vehicle,” said the Indigenous police force in a news release. Vehicle later found “The unoccupied vehicle was later found near a residence,” police said. According to Anishinabek police, Ontario Provincial Police provided additional resources, including its canine unit, to help search for the suspect, but he was not located. “This investigation is ongoing,” said police. Providing information Authorities are asking anyone who saw an unfamiliar person or suspicious activity that afternoon, or who has information that may assist with the investigation, to call the Anishinabek Police Service at 705-472-0270 or use its online reporting tool.
