Police in Red Lake issue advisory, searching for ‘person of interest’

There is an ongoing police investigation in the northwestern Ontario community of Red Lake.

Ontario Provincial Police advised residents May 26 not to pick up hitchhikers and warned of an increased police presence in the area.

“A person of interest has been identified as a male with short black hair, last seen wearing a black hoodie, green backpack and jeans,” police said.

No other information has been released.

Anyone who can identify the person of interest, or who has seen him or has any relevant information, is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers to remain anonymous.
