A visit from the Ontario Provincial Police’s Emergency Response Team to a Sault Ste. Marie seniors’ residence last month turned into a day of learning and friendly competition, with a challenge now issued to the city’s fire department. Officers discuss ERT work The OPP North East Region team visited the Ontario Finnish Resthome Association (OFRA) on Oct. 8, where officers discussed their work and the demands of joining the unit. “They answered residents’ questions and even set up a foam dart gun shooting competition,” OPP said in a recent social media post. The provincial police service thanked OFRA residents and staff for their welcome. Residents take part in activities The OFRA described the visit as an event filled with laughter and excitement, beginning with a question-and-answer period. “But don’t worry, folks… There was no emergency!” the organization said in its own social media post about the visit. According to OFRA, two teams took part in the activities. “A huge thank you to the team for taking time out of their busy schedules to connect with our residents and bring a little extra excitement to their day!” OFRA said. “It’s moments like these that make our community so special.” Fire department challenged OFRA’s program and support services manager has issued a challenge to the Sault Ste. Marie Fire Department. “Sault Ste. Marie Fire Department — you’re up next!” OFRA said. “Get those water games ready, guys and gals! We have a feeling things are about to get a little wet and wild at OFRA!”
