OPP snowmobile patrol uncovers stolen sled

Ontario Provincial Police have charged one person with possession of stolen property following a snowmobile patrol on a northeastern Ontario trail last weekend.

OPP said the incident occurred shortly before 2 p.m. on Jan. 4, when officers were conducting snowmobile patrol on an Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs trail, from Sturgeon Falls to River Valley in West Nipissing.

Police conducted a stop with a snowmobile and took the operator into custody for riding a stolen snowmachine.

As a result, the rider, a 26-year-old man from West Nipissing, was charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear in court in North Bay on Feb. 5.
