OPP rescues woman, granddaughter from northern Ont. snowbank

A weekend patrol led to the rescue of an elderly woman and her young granddaughter after police say officers discovered their vehicle stuck in a snowbank.

Ontario Provincial Police said members of the James Bay OPP detachment came across the vehicle on Quarry Road on Saturday night.

“(They) had been stranded for about an hour and had no cell phone to call for help in an area with limited service,” said police in a social media post Monday.

Officers assisted by digging out and safely removing the vehicle from the snowbank before continuing with their duties.

OPP Cont. Kyler Brouwer indicated in the post that these actions were indicative of northern policing in the community.
