The North Bay Police Service has laid charges after a break-and-enter resulted in about $500 worth of property being allegedly stolen on the weekend. On Sept. 13, police opened an investigation into a break-in at a business in the 200 block of Birchs Road. Approximately $500 worth of property was allegedly stolen. “Through the course of the investigation, police identified the accused,” police said in a news release Thursday. Taken into custody Police said the accused was located on Sept. 15 and taken into custody without incident. “A subsequent search resulted in the seizure of approximately 0.5 grams of suspected fentanyl,” said police. Impact on local businesses “Businesses in our community belong to hard-working people who contribute to a productive and thriving North Bay,” said Acting Deputy Chief Jeff Warner. “When someone steals from a local business, they are directly impacting business owners and this has a ripple effect into the community.” Charges laid The accused, a 36-year-old local man, has been charged with breaking and entering a place with intent to commit an indictable offence, drug possession, mischief and failing to comply with a probation order. The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
