North Bay police arrest man accused of human trafficking of underage victims

A 33-year-old North Bay man, Marquis Clark, faces human trafficking and weapons charges after a Barrie investigation. Police seized guns, drugs and money.

An armed man wanted by police in Barrie was arrested Tuesday in North Bay.

Marquis Clark, 33, was taken into custody in connection with a human trafficking investigation that began last November.

Clark, who was in possession of a loaded firearm at the time of his arrest, is facing 17 criminal charges.

They include human trafficking and procuring of someone under the age of 18, receiving the material benefits of sexual services of someone under the age of 18, making death threats, drug trafficking, weapons offences and two counts of assault with a weapon.

None of the charges has been proven in court.

Police in North Bay brought him to Barrie, where he remains in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for later Wednesday.

“Investigators believe that there may be additional human trafficking victims that have not yet reported their involvement with the accused to police,” police said.
