Impaired driving charges laid after Highway 17 crash in Sudbury

A 27-year-old Sudbury man faces impaired driving charges following a single-vehicle crash on Highway 17 over the weekend.

Ontario Provincial Police said officers responded to the collision in Greater Sudbury at about 1:30 a.m. on May 23.

“No injuries were reported,” said OPP in a news release.

“The driver was arrested for impaired driving, then transported to an OPP detachment for further testing.”

Charges, penalties

As a result of an OPP investigation, the motorist was charged with impaired driving, failing or refusing to comply with a demand and dangerous operation of a vehicle.

In addition to the charges, the man received a 90-day driver’s licence suspension and the vehicle involved was impounded for seven days.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on June 24.
