Forest fire count in the northeast stable after weekend rain

Weekend rain that prompted several severe weather warnings from Environment Canada over several days dampened the spread of active fires.

Ontario Forest Fires said no new wildland fires were confirmed Monday in its latest release for the northeast region.

The service said 42 wildland fires remain active with 3 under control and 39 being observed.
