Five people arrested in Timmins, handgun, $20K in drugs seized

Timmins police seized 66.3 grams of fentanyl, 22.3 grams of crack cocaine, 48.2 grams of cocaine and $5,000 in cash. The total estimated street value of the drugs seized is $20,310.

Three people from southern Ontario and two from Timmins have been charged following a police operation Wednesday evening.

Timmins police raided a residence on Cedar Street North around 5:18 p.m. armed with a search warrant. It was the culmination of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation, police said in a news release Thursday.

“During the execution of the warrant, two individuals were arrested inside the residence, while three additional suspects fled on foot,” police said.

“Both were pursued and arrested by officers shortly thereafter. As part of the same investigation, a second search warrant was executed at a residence on Sixth Avenue at approximately 9 p.m.”

Loaded handgun, cash

Subsequent searches uncovered a loaded handgun, 66.3 grams of fentanyl, 22.3 grams of crack cocaine, 48.2 grams of cocaine, $5,000 in cash and “various mobile phone devices.”

The total estimated street value of the drugs seized is $20,310, police said.

Charged are two people from Toronto, ages 26 and 24, a 25-year-old from Oshawa, and two people from Timmins ages 29 and 56.

All five are charged with multiple weapons and drug trafficking offences.

They are scheduled to appear at a bail hearing Thursday in Timmins.
