Ontario Forest Fires says the Chapleau 6 wildland fire is out, the service said in a news release late Thursday afternoon. “It was 0.1 of a hectare located approximately 0.1 of a kilometre east of Highway 17 and 3.2 kilometres south of Highway 552,” the agency said. “There are three active wildland fires in the northeast region and Timmins 9 remains out of control.” Ontario Forest Fires said Timmins 9 remains at 3,151 hectares. Crews are making progress with fire suppression operations aided by recent rain in the Gogama area.
