A mixed residential-commercial building in Montreal’s Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie borough was hit by an alleged arson attack early Tuesday morning. Montreal police (SPVM) received a 911 call at 12:50 a.m. about the incident on Saint-Zotique Street near Chabot Street. “When officers arrived at the scene, the Montreal Fire Department was already getting the fire under control,” said Caroline Chèvrefils, a spokesperson with Montreal police. “No incendiary material was found.” She notes that damage to the building is considered minor. “Certain elements on the scene suggested a fire of a criminal nature,” said Chèvrefils, adding that police are investigating and plan to look at surveillance footage in the area. There were no reported injuries.
