A woman is in hospital after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a large boulevard in Montreal’s LaSalle borough Wednesday night. Montreal police (SPVM) received several 911 calls at 9:10 p.m. about the incident on Newman Boulevard and Thierry Street. “Upon arrival at the scene, officers quickly located the victim,” said Johany Charland, a spokesperson with Montreal police. “She was seriously injured but conscious and breathing.” The woman was rushed to hospital. “Several tests must be conducted before they can confirm her life is no longer in danger,” said Charland. The driver of the vehicle, an 81-year-old man, was not injured. “According to initial reports, the vehicle was driving westbound on Newman Boulevard,” said Charland. “As it approached the intersection, the victim reportedly crossed, heading south.” A security perimeter was established to allow investigators to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Charland added that there is no indication that the incident is criminal in nature.
