Police on Montreal’s South Shore have identified the man and woman who were found dead in a home in Brossard early Monday morning as Marcos Amilcar Diaz Lopez, 56, and Sonia Maricela Gonzalez Vasquez, 54. Longueuil police (SPAL) says it received a 911 call at 12:45 a.m. about an alleged armed assault on Bienvenue Avenue. When officers arrived at the scene, they located the bodies of the two people. They were pronounced dead on site. “We got a call from a family member that got there first,” said Jacqueline Pierre, a spokesperson with Longueuil police. “The person is a witness for us.” “The police officers noticed that there [was] a bladed weapon that possibly had been used on both victims,” Pierre added. Police said they have gotten calls from the address in the past. “There are a lot of theories on the table, and none of them are rejected right now. We are really, really trying to figure out which one is more possible than the other,” Pierre said. Police would not confirm if the victims were a couple, but noted that they both lived at the home. A man, confirmed as the owner of the home was facing several charges in 2024, including for assault, uttering threats and harassment, but according to court records, the charges were withdrawn. Police finished examining the scene on Monday evening, but are asking anyone with information to anonymously contact Info-Azimut at 450-646-8500.
