Two men were transported to hospital after being found injured in separate parts of the city overnight Friday. At 11 p.m., Montreal police (SPVM) said it located a person who appeared to be “injured by a sharp object” on the corner of René-Lévesque and Saint-Laurent boulevards in the Ville-Marie borough. “The victim, a man of 34 years old, was conscious and had upper body injuries,” said Caroline Chèvrefils, a spokesperson with Montreal police. He was transported to hospital. “Despite his important injuries, we do not fear for his life,” she added. Chèvrefils noted that the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unknown, as well as the actual location of the assault. Shortly after, at 1:30 a.m., Montreal police received several 911 calls about an incident on Sainte-Catherine Street near William-David Avenue in the Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough. “When the police arrived at the scene, they located the victim, a man aged 41,” said Chèvrefils. “He was conscious, and he was injured in the upper body injury.” The man was transported to hospital, and his life is not considered to be in danger. “According to the first information, it was a conflict that would have escalated between the victim and a suspect, at which point, the victim was injured,” she explained. In both cases, there have been no arrests, and the investigations are ongoing.
