A water main break flooded some streets in downtown Montreal on Monday. According to the city, a 12-inch water main along Viger Avenue burst just before 3 p.m., causing water to flood streets near the Palais des congrès. City spokesperson Philippe Sabourin said crews are lowering water pressure and controlling the flow of water. Viger Avenue was closed to traffic, however, one lane is expected to reopen at approximately 6 p.m. for the rest of the night. Repairs will begin Tuesday morning. Viger will be closed while the work is done.
