Quebecers have a chance to win a record-breaking jackpot in the next Lotto Max draw. In the next draw on Oct. 13, the prize pool will be $101 million, with a record jackpot of $85 million. An estimated 16 Maxmillions will also be up for grabs, as well as 85 $100,000 prizes. “As we know, when jackpots reach levels like this, there’s a real buzz,” said Renaud Dugas, a spokesperson for Loto-Québec, noting that many families, colleagues, and friends are forming groups to try their luck. “Lotto Max has undergone some changes this year and the jackpot can now be increased to up to $90 million.” The last jackpot was won in the draw on Aug. 21 and was also a historic event, when 49 people, who did not know one another, shared the $55 million prize. The winners came from 12 regions across Quebec and had all purchased at least one share of a winning ticket online via the Group Option. Among them was Laurentians resident François Bissonnette, who had bought his share just a few minutes before the draw, according to information on the Loto-Québec website. To date, the largest amount ever won in Quebec stands at $70 million and has been won on three occasions. The last time a jackpot this large was paid out was on June 7, 2022. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 33,446,140. With files from The Canadian Press
