The Montreal police service (SPVM) said an officer at station 39, which is facing scrutiny amid allegations of discriminatory and racist acts against members of the public, is facing serious allegations. Police Chief Fady Dagher is set to address the media on Friday about the new allegations. The police service said in a news release issued Thursday just before 5 p.m. that the officer in question allegedly committed acts of “misconduct and obstruction of justice” in connection with a case of domestic violence in 2025. The SPVM did not provide further details about the nature of the incident, but said it surfaced during the ongoing investigation into station 39 and that the complaint came from another officer. The officer has since been reassigned to administrative duties with no contact with members of the public while the investigation is ongoing. In a post on social media, Quebec’s new domestic security minister, Guy Lapointe Jr., said if the new allegations are confirmed, " the situation is extremely concerning." Station 39 is at the centre of a scandal that came to light in June when Dagher announced at a late-night news conference that serious allegations led to the dismantling of a patrol unit. He later confirmed that one of the allegations under review was about officers who allegedly cut the hair of racialized civilians to keep as trophies. At least four officers have been suspended during the probe into station 39, which is ongoing. Files have also been sent to the Quebec Crown prosecution office to determine whether or not criminal charges should be laid. Officer at station 21 also suspended The SPVM also said Thursday that an officer at station 21 is accused of committing acts similar to ones under review at station 39, namely allegations of discriminatory and racist acts. “This officer has been suspended for several weeks,” the force said in the release. An SPVM spokesperson declined to provide further details when reached by CTV News on Thursday, citing the police’s chief news conference on Friday. This allegation against the officer came to light during a separate probe into station 21, after it was revealed earlier this month that two police officers have been suspended for alleged abuses of power. In at least one case, one of the officers allegedly urinated on a homeless person while in uniform. The SPVM confirmed the nature of the allegations after they were first reported by La Presse on Oct. 16. Quebec’s Minister of Domestic Security said that Quebec’s independent police watchdog, known as the BEI, and the Quebec Police Ethics Commissioner have both opened separate investigations into station 21. Dagher’s press conference will be held Friday afternoon at the SPVM headquarters.
