A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a pickup truck on Saturday evening on a forest road in La Tuque, in the Haute-Mauricie region. Emergency services were notified around 8:40 p.m. of the collision, which occurred on Wabash Road. The driver of the dual-purpose motorcycle, or semi-trail, a man in his 40s, was in “very critical” condition as he was transported to the hospital in La Tuque, where he was pronounced dead. “As for the two occupants of the pickup-style truck, reports indicate the driver was a minor and the passenger was an adult. They were not injured but were reportedly in a state of shock,” said Sergeant Audrey-Anne Bilodeau, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ). Notably, the driver of the pickup truck involved did not have a driver’s license, and the vehicle he was driving was not authorized to be on the road. “They were questioned by police before being released pending the outcome of the investigation. A crash reconstruction specialist arrived on the scene at daybreak Sunday morning to analyze the scene and attempt to understand the causes and circumstances surrounding the collision,” said Bilodeau. Fines are prescribed by law for driving without a license in Quebec. There could also be a traffic citation for operating a vehicle that is not registered in Quebec.
