A former teacher at a private school on Montreal’s West Island pleaded guilty this week to child pornography charges. Joshua Campbell was a technology teacher at the Hebrew foundation school in Dollard-des-Ormeaux. He was accused of possession of child pornography, and making the material available to minors below the age of 16 between May 1, 2022 and October 19, 2023. In a statement of facts presented in court, it was revealed Campbell approached teenagers under an assumed name, sending them nude photos of other teenagers. In one case, Campbell admitted blackmailing a student by pirating someone’s Snapchat account, and threatening to distribute nude photos. Investigators were able to link other similar cases by searching Campbell’s computer, which also contained a large folder filled with child pornography. The former teacher will return to court in March for his sentencing hearing. The school did not respond to our request for comments.
